NATCHEZ — Interim Mayor Jon Betts led Tuesday night’s meeting of Vidalia’s council of aldermen, replacing Mayor Buz Craft.

Craft was in St. Louis to attend the annual meeting of the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative.

During the relatively brief encounter, the aldermen of Vidalia:

• Approved a professional license application for Kacy Aubic, doing business as Natchez Tumbling Academy, at 4002 Carter St. The company offers gymnastics classes for boys and girls ages 3-18.

• approved an outdoor signage request for Petsense, 1649 Carter St.

• Approved the hiring of Anita Gable as a full-time School Resource Officer and Daniel Lyod as a full-time patroller, each employed by the Vidalia Police Department.

• approved a memorandum of understanding between the City of Vidalia and the Concordia Parish School Board. The school board approved payment of $42,000 each for four school resource officers, employed by the Vidalia Police Department.

• Fixed the amount of excess hydro revenue to be distributed as a rebate to retail utility customers at Vidalia at 50%.

• The board met with the executive to discuss potential litigation. When the aldermen returned from the executive session to public session, they approved a resolution to continue the litigation. No other information was available about the litigation. However, City Manager Jay LaSyone said a filing would be filed soon and more information about the litigation would be available at that time.
