Playbill will feature star-studded Broadway panels at New York Comic Con

Guests will include Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez, Celia Rose Gooding, Frankie Grande, and more.

Playbill has partnered with ReedPop, the parent company of New York Comic Con, to present a series of panels featuring guests from Broadway and TV, and the first-ever comic-centric Pop-Up Playbill Store.

New York Comic Con will fill the Jacob K. Javits Center with celebrities, surprise appearances, signings, merchandise, signs and more from October 6-9; Playbill Plays New York Comic Con will be a celebration merging theater with television, film and comics.

Special guests will include Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez, Celia Rose Gooding, Frankie Grande and Gabby Beans, plus events celebrating beetle juice, Sesame Street The Musicaland more.

Playbill Plays New York Comic Con will launch its panels with The Great Broadway Sign October 6, exploring the influence of fantasy, comics and science fiction on the performances, characters and personal lives of Broadway alumni. Bryan Campione will host this year’s panelists, including Tony nominee Celia Rose Gooding (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Little shredded pill), Justin Matthew Sargent (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Fergie Auguste Philippe (hamilton) and Jenna Leigh Green (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Nasty).

Fans will be able to enjoy two Playbill panels, Beetlejuice on Broadway and “Tune In!”, on October 7. The first, with panelists and a host to be announced soon, will delve into Tim Burton’s beloved film and its second life as a musical with the titular poltergeist, unusual teenager Lydia Deetz, the biggest ver broadway sand and lots of scratches.

“To agree!” will feature panelists including the Emmy, Grammy and Oscar winner, plus Tony nominee Kristen Anderson-Lopez and two-time EGOT winner Robert Lopez (Frozen, coconut, Wanda Vision, Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon), Emmy winner Cinco Paul (Schmidadon!), Tony winner Lena Hall (snowdrops, Hedwig and the Angry Thumb) and Frankie Grande (Henry Danger, Mamma Mia!). Hosted by Talaura Harms, panelists will discuss the effect of theater on their shows and how TV and film incorporate music and theatrical performances into musical episodes and more.

On October 8, scene favorites embark on a unique D&D-style adventure during Playbill’s The Broadway Bards Party sign. Game Master David Andrew Laws (The twenty sided tavern) will welcome panelists Gabby Beans, Tony nominee 2022 (Succession, The skin of our teeth), Julian Elijah Martinez (Network), and Max Crumm (Grease: It’s you I want!, Grease, disaster!) on a journey as audiences watch them solve problems, entertain themselves, and maybe get the perfect roll of the dice for this panel moderated by Jim Cairl.

For its final panel on October 9, Playbill will present sesame street the musical, currently playing Off-Broadway. Join us for a discussion about the new stage show, featuring live puppets and a mix of classic tunes from the TV series and new numbers for the stage. Participants and host will be announced soon.

Returning this year will be the limited-edition Playbill cover cards, specially designed for each panel presented by Playbill at the convention and available for purchase.
