Coimbatore, India – KG Linens is expanding into a wide range of products and services to support the ‘Able Together’ campaign it launched last year.
The comprehensive program covers raw materials, sustainable manufacturing practices and mitigating environmental impacts at the end of a product’s life.
KG introduced recycled polyester from both landfills and ocean related plastics. The manufacturer now has an installed capacity of 520 tonnes per month to produce recycled plastic from flakes to finished product. The company has been recognized as an authorized manufacturer under India’s PLI program, which focuses on expanding the country’s production of synthetic fiber products and technical textiles.
The company has introduced GRS-certified and traceable sheets made from recycled PET under the Green Fine Linen and Blue Linens brands.
KG uses 100% green energy from its power plant, which is fueled primarily by agricultural waste and reduces the company’s carbon footprint. In addition, the manufacturer uses salt-free and zero-discharge dyeing processes to reduce its environmental impact.
For end-of-life improvements, the company also uses biodegradable materials such as PLA, Bio D poly and Tencel lyocell.
KG Linens will showcase new products reflecting these practices in January 2023 at the Heimtextil international home textiles fair in Germany.
