Bharti Airtel on Thursday announced several new products in its cloud portfolio ahead of the launch of 5G service. The new cloud offerings will fall under the Edge Cloud portfolio and will include Edge CDN.
Airtel has announced several cloud solutions ahead of the 5G launch, including its Cloud Edge Content Delivery Network (CDN). It will accelerate web and video content delivery by using its edge network to bring content as close to users as possible.
Airtel Cloud CDN will reduce latency, cost and load on servers, making it easier for businesses to focus on application performance. This service is especially useful in the OTT, Ed-Tech, Gaming, and Healthcare industries.
The service is network optimized as it utilizes 120 edge locations, network strength and mobile handset share to deliver a better customer experience to customers.
Airtel works with two of the biggest OTT companies in India and others on this platform.
“With 5G on our doorstep, businesses will leverage the low latency, high bandwidth, and high device density of the 5G spectrum to solve critical problems using edge computing. Airtel has three key strengths to deliver a differentiated set of cloud offerings – we have 12 large data centers and over 120 edge locations We also have a network with full coverage across the country and in most locations across the Finally, our strength GTM has direct relationships with all businesses in India, small, medium or large,” said Ajay Chitkara, Director and CEO of Airtel Business.
Airtel is also rolling out its Edge Compute service to its customers. It will bring 5G private network and edge computing in one box to target factories, warehouses and ports, airports which will need low latency and high bandwidth network, devices IOT to collect and computer prowess to process the data.
The telecom operator also announced that in the near future many targeted cloud solutions will come from Airtel for specific industry needs such as banking, 5G Edge, Developer and hybrid cloud requirements on an immediate basis.
